Chrysanthi Schiza

Chrysanthi Schiza

I am a Cypriot singer and songwriter who combines elements in my music from Greek new folk, entehno and contemporary laiko. My musical journey started at a young age, composing my first song at the age of twelve.

I have released my debut solo album in July 2023, ‘Alithies’, which includes eleven songs, orchestrated by Lefteris Moumtzis (Freedom Candlemaker). The collection of songs reflect personal and social matters faced by people, and especially young ones, who seek to find love, their path in life and live their own truth. The album can be found on Spotify, YouTube, Apple music and many other digital platforms.

I wanted to take part in Digi Helicon Virtual Exhibition in order to dedicate more time to my art, connect with other fellow artists, learn new skills in music video creation and to share my music with wider audiences in Europe.

Dyo Eones (Two Centuries)

For the exhibition, I undertook the video production of a music video for my new song ‘Dyo Eones’ (Two Centuries). This required creative direction, video editing and concept creation, all of which I exercised for the first time with the support of my mentor.

The video shoot took place at Oroklini coastline of Cyprus and includes the element of water and the sun. Throughout the filming process, I aimed at creating an atmosphere matching the lyrics to the visuals.

English translation to the lyrics:
Dyo Eones (Two Centuries)
Music: Chrysanthi Schiza, Lyrics: Eleni Sofroniou Strati

I have a sun that bathes me at dawn
a cloudy sky that wraps me at night
a small happiness that bleeds like a wound
and a sadness in the golden nets

I have a light that awakes my strength
and a darkness that puts truth to sleep
pure teardrops, to water prayers
and words of dreams to create fairytales

I am embraced in the speaking gazes
I find peace from the hands that touch me
my silences stream down my cheeks
the rivers of my soul are reflected on my face

How I love dancing in the rain
with the raindrops swaying on my body
come tonight, don’t leave me alone
I have been waiting for you for a lifetime and two centuries
