Veronica Oliva

My creative vocation was born—just like me—amid the provincial countryside of northeastern Italy, in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Raised in a family of artists, I’ve always had a pencil in my hand. It was in this environment, rich in greenery and creativity, that my greatest passions took root: nature, music, and drawing. Over time, the subjects of my work have grown with me, evolving alongside my passions and expressive needs. I have illustrated songs, depicted places I’ve lived in or traveled to, and even conveyed abstract emotions.

Today, I continue exploring new ways to connect with my passions and find daily inspiration—experimenting with new techniques and, above all, considering myself a “Creative in progress.” I enjoy participating in contests and exhibitions, as they’re often exciting opportunities to challenge myself and connect with other creatives. With this spirit, I chose to take part in the DIGI HELICON Virtual Exhibition—an event that brings together artists from different countries and fosters dialogue and support.

Silent pain

In Silent Pain, I captured a deeply human and common emotion: pain, and the inability to express it verbally. This enormous tear, symbolizing sorrow, also holds within it the frustration of being unable to articulate it with words—like a matryoshka doll of emotions. This close-up of a tearful face can be interpreted either as a silent cry for help or a gesture of empathy toward the viewer. Because, I imagine, we’ve all felt this way at some point.
