ROMANO Francesco

ROMANO Francesco

Coming from a family of artists (painters, sculptors, musicians…) from a young age, Franceso Romano showcases his taste for art through drawings, painting and linocuts. During his studies in geology, he developed a sensibility to topics such as environment, renewable resources and sustainable development. Responsible use of material has therefore become a priority in his artistic production. While keeping a main activity in several fields, Francesco Romano managed to develop an artistic activity in the goal of making it, one day, his only professional activity. Looking after a theme, a technique, a “signature” that would make his work stand out, the artist moves to France in 2022, where he perfects his technique by attending to training courses at the Ateliers Beaux-Arts of Paris, and more recently, he is following sculpting training courses at the École Boulle. It’s in late 2002 that Francesco discovered resin by discovering the works of the American artist Bruce Riley: a revelation! He finally found the sought-after link between painting and sculpture, enabling him to produce in volume. Francesco Romano lives and produce in Paris, where he exhibits (in galeries or during the open house day of AAB) the works he can can offer reproductions of, and can produce paintings on commission.

BLM

The painting “BLM” (Black Live Matters) is a creation that was thought and created during the 2020 protests of the Black Lives Matter movement that highlighted the existing social disparities between white and afro-american people in the US.
Painted with the unique technique of mixing resin-acrylic and resin-pigment, this work offers not only visual beauty, but also a profound and meaningful message. The predominant colors, including ethereal sky blue, solemn black, vibrant bottle green and fiery carmine, are harmoniously interwoven to create a composition that evokes a sense of strength, determination and hope. Resin-induced reflections give the painting a unique luminosity, adding depth and a three-dimensional quality that changes with the light. The title “BLM” reflects my idealistic vision of a just and fair future, in which each individual’s life is respected and valued. Each resin pour and brushstroke was intended to contribute to a rendering that symbolizes the pride of an African-American woman (in Afro style) in the context of the struggle against racial and gender inequalities. This artwork is not only a visual affirmation of the importance of black people’s lives, but also a focal point to inspire discussion and reflection on the struggle for equality and social justice.
