The Three is a leitmotif in my paintings, but I also like to work on the themes of humans, Ocean, musique, desert… And my series are always inspired by the land, its magical beauty and my anxiety regarding the dangers looming over it: wildfire, water pollution, tsunamis, disappearance of primary forests, drought, desertification, storms, loss of ancestral values…
To express the inexpressible, to capture the emotion of a moment in front of a landscape, a hundred-year-old tree, a piece of music, a look, to show without telling too much, to immerse oneself totally in a moment lived, to find smells, flavors, the warmth of the sun, the burning caress of the African wind, the sound of the backwash, the smell of pine resin and kelp, the song of the cicadas… To reinvent a world, to immerse myself in it and to capture its energy and the breath of life. My research has led me to use clay on canvas, impasto, mounting of tissue papers, and multiple techniques where resin, acrylic, pigments and oil are all mixed. I also like to write within the painting: incantations to the world, stories, wild thoughts, wishes, secrets… Confessed to the painting. Once the words are written, they are immediately forgotten. Explain comes from the Latin word “Ex Plicare”, which means to unfold. My words are therefore folded words. In that work, I try to capture the world, that is at the same time magnificent and unsettling, where nature converges with human emotions. Here, the three is the symbol of life, energy and resilience, and three red sentinels are reminding us to not let our guard down. Fire smoulders under the ashes, we should listen to our personal alarms.
