Anniethi

The expression “Jack of all trade and master of none” suits pretty well the diversity of my plastic interests. I like almost all the “commerces” and I do not master any, or rather I like them all, I like them very much like the amator in the latin sense, “Amator”, meaning the one who loves and loves again. I am not attached to a specific medium as it is like they “present themselves” naturally to me regarding the first conscious intention, or not. In painting, I like stains, traces, erasures and accidents, which for me are assembled in a single gesture. “To be in the work” is for me what defines an artist.

Paysage Fresnel

The Fresnel effect is a visual phenomenon that allows us to see the top and bottom of a surface simultaneously, from a certain point of view. My “Fresnel Landscape” stands on the borderline between the figurative: the visible, and the abstract: what can be perceived. These are the limits I liked to question. Like the poet Yves Bonnefoy said: “And we’re going to lift the fabric of the water // To venture further than color // Into the unknown of puddles and shadows”. This effect is a metaphor of the relationship between what can be seen and what can be perceived and the one between figuration and abstraction.
